Fortaleza is home to some 2.5 million
inhabitants and is very close to the equatorial line in the Northeast of Brazil. It is 4
hours less in flight time from US & Europe to Fortaleza than it is to Rio or Sao
Paulo. Fortaleza has a warm and dry tropical climate with an average annual temperature of
27C (or 80 F); these graphs show the climate of Fortaleza. Fortaleza has over three
thousand hours of sun per year (it is sunny 350 days of the year!) and has a constant
ocean breeze.
Fortaleza is Brazil's most favorite holiday destination. Culturally, Fortaleza offers a
wide variety of monuments, like for example the old prison, which is currently used as the
Ceará Museum, cathedrals, theatres, and the old cinema located in the São Luis Theatre
where many cultural festivals are being held. And let's not forget the famous area of
Irecema and Dragao do Mar; here you can find a lot of restaurants and bars, fast food
shops, galleries and discotheques, with a lot of live music, Forro (local music and dance)

compared to the famous Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro. According to the Brazilians, Beira
